Saying Yes to No

Today is a Wednesday night. B and I are trying something new to ensure our creative selves are nourished. I’m calling it Maartsy Time (for now) and we are making ourselves take at least 30 minutes, off the TV and our phones to create.

I will be writing and he will be painting and sketching. Some days, I might play piano or ukulele. Maybe even crochet. Anything creative. We decided recently that we gave a lot of ourselves in 2025 to obligations that no longer suit us. We said YES to a lot of things, which made things very exciting, fulfilling at times, and very very busy. We might have gone overboard a bit. Staying home to lounge is underrated.

2026 will be a year of bravely saying NO to things that no longer serve us. We will take care of ourselves, follow our needs – creative, health and emotion-wise. One of the ways we plan to do this is to have weekly Maartsy Time (will this term last, I don’t know, I’m not loving it.) I’m putting this out here, in the universe, in the hopes that we stick to this!
